The Book "Awakening" by Margaret Atwood

The novel “Rock of Vahram” (1951), first published in Eastern Armenian translation, presents a new, familiar and unfamiliar Saroyan. In the story of an Armenian-American youth who rises from bartender to Hollywood star, Saroyan’s themes of identity search, the split consciousness of an Armenian from the diaspora, family ties and a ruined personal life are combined with the bitter reflections of a sad sage, although the author is not without an unrivaled sense of humor, beautiful madness and the humanity of a true Christian. “Rock of Vahram” is a unique work in both content and form and structure, as expected as Saroyan is unexpected.
