Description
The novel tells the stories of prisoners in a prison cell in Istanbul after the military coup of 1980. To pass the time, they tell each other stories, real and imaginary. The novel, consisting of ten chapters, is structured like the Decameron, where each of the ten stories is told by one of the prisoners. Inventing and telling stories becomes the only way to overcome the difficulties that befall them. The novel is based on the contrast of two cities, two Istanbuls, two realities on the surface and underground in the prison, the latter temporarily becoming a safer place thanks to the stories of the prisoners. The title itself shows the mirror-like difference between these two cities, which, despite how opposite they are, at one point in history become equal.
