Description
Day House, Night House (1998), one of Olga Tokarczuk's most notable works, is, in her words, a "novel-astronomy": a constellation of diverse stories that reflects the past and present of the Sudetenland (Lower Silesia), a region in one of whose villages the author has a home. This multicultural area, which has left its mark on Tokarczuk's creative world, has been part of different countries throughout history, until it was divided between Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland after 1945.
