The Sea Wolf by Jack London

Jack London's novel "The Sea Wolf", published in 1904, can be considered one of the best works of foreign adventure literature. The events take place in 1893. In the Pacific Ocean. By the will of fate, people with different characters and inclinations find themselves on a merchant ship engaged in poaching, and their relationships are complicated by different views on life. They cannot hide or escape from there, where they are constantly fighting for life and death, on the one hand, with natural disasters, and on the other - with cruel and vicious human phenomena. In these difficult conditions, the true face of each person is revealed, and the overstrain of passions leads to large outbreaks. Young writer Humphrey Van Weyden sets off on a journey from San Francisco to Millville, a friend's summer home, on the steamer "Martinez", when along the way the ship sinks, and he is saved by a merchant ship called "Ghost", whose captain was the terrifying Guy Larsen. On this ship there is a constant struggle between the captain and the ship between the members. It is in this struggle that Van Weyden's character is tempered.
