Description
The narrator, Mole Flanders, who had become wealthy in his late teens, with Defoe's usual flamboyant energy, a practical register devoid of gendered features, casts a farewell glance at the countless complications of his own life. Unfavorable social conditions have more than once radically changed his status, forcing him to live by theft, fraud, and prostitution.
