Description
Vahan Totovents' three-volume novel "Baku" is now published as one complete book. In the novel, Levon, the only son of the couple Marta and Virab, struggling to survive in poverty, the literary type of Totovents' son (Levon-Levik), turns out to be an innocent target of the capitalist world, armed with great ideas and becoming the guarantee of victory, the guarantee and symbol of an entire trilogy... The events unfold in one of the major cities of Transcaucasia, where, as is clear to the naked eye, Armenians were still in power or at least had social influence. The clash of classes, love, money grayed and blackened by oil, poverty and an irresistible change in life that occurred at the turn of the century. The attentive reader will not miss some precise facts hidden in layers of fiction concerning the source of further Armenian-Turkish tensions, ancient imperial practices that continue to this day, the arrival of socialism with red water, and many, many other issues. Rumor has it that the novel had a "mekenas" and that Totovents wrote it between 1930 and 1934. He wrote this song on some "order", but this information is known only in whispers.
