Description
The novel Around the World in 80 Days is one of the best classic adventure novels. Jules Verne was inspired by an article published in a magazine, which proved that any traveler, using modern means of transportation, can easily travel around the world. The novel was first published in 1872. The book tells the story of an Englishman, Phileas Fogg, and his Frenchman, Jean Passepartout, who, as a result of a bet, set off on a trip around the world. Fogg's journey begins in England, then he visits France, Egypt, India, China, Japan and America. Along the way, they get into many adventures, face various obstacles, the most persistent of which is the detective Fix. The novel describes in detail the means and conditions of travel of that time: mail ships, steamships, sailing ships, in addition, travelers had to use sailing sleighs and even an elephant.
